Campaign for a YES Elevated, and NO to the Hybrid Tunnel
Seattle - The No Tunnel Alliance campaign will Rally for an elevated replacement of the Alaskan Way Viaduct and against a tunnel. Will begin at 7:30 a.m. on Monday February 26th, at the Seneca Street exit from the Alaskan Way Viaduct at 1st & Seneca in downtown Seattle.
The No Tunnel Alliance supports a NO Tunnel Vote on the ballot, because the costs and risks to Seattle taxpayers are to costly. A YES on the New Quieter Elevated because of the affordability and lack of risk to City taxpayers.
"This location was chosen because it's a perfect example of the difference between a tunnel and an elevated replacement. Bus riders and commuters will lose this off ramp with a tunnel, but they'll keep it with the elevated," said Gene Hoglund, Chair of the No Tunnel Alliance.
Measure 1 is an advisory measure regarding the so-called "surface/tunnel hybrid" to replace the Alaskan Way Viaduct. Measure 2 is an advisory measure on an elevated replacement for the Alaskan Way Viaduct. Both measures have been sent to the voters of Seattle for a March 13 election.
Campaign supporters will be present holding "No Big Dig" signs, "No Tunnel" signs, and "Yes Elevated" signs, with rush hour traffic and buses in the background exiting the Seneca Street off-ramp from the Alaskan Way Viaduct.
